Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson was today arrested in Costa Mesa, Calif., on suspicion of felony evading, hit-and-run and reckless driving, according to DailyPilot.com.
Jackson -- who has a massive pick-up truck with his image plastered on various sides -- apparently fled the scene of an accident and then continued to weave in and out of traffic and allude police, causing at least one more collision before coming to a stop, according to a separate SI.com report.
Images show that his tire is absolutely shredded.
Here's and account from DailyPilot.com:
"Jackson, the driver of a lifted, gray pick-up truck left crashed cars, shredded tires and sparks in his wake this afternoon when he led police on a short pursuit from the southbound 55 freeway exit onto Newport Boulevard where he hit at least three cars, police said.
The driver hit two cars at 19th Street and Newport Boulevard, then drove away at about 1:13 p.m., Lt. Paul Dondero said. A Costa Mesa police officer saw the driver southbound approaching 17th Street and tried to pull him over, police said. There, he hit at least one more car before continuing to run, now heading south toward the Balboa Peninsula, Dondero said. Some time after that, the truck blew a tire but continued to drive on its rims, Dondero said.
Jackson eventually gave up, pulled over and was arrested, police said. The whole chase lasted about five minutes, Dondero said."
Fortunately, no one was injured throughout the incident. He is being held on $25,000 bail.
Jackson recently lost his 205-pound belt to Forrest Griffin via unanimous decision in a thrilling five-round battle at UFC 86: "Jackson vs. Griffin" at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 5. The UFC is aware of his arrest; however, has not issued a statement at this time.
