EliteXC recently announced that Ryan Shamrock (1-0) -- son of UFC hall of famer Ken Shamrock -- will fight Giorgio Andrews (2-0) at Cage Rage 25: "Bring It On" on March 8 in England.
Shamrock is only 19 years old and has just one professional fight under his belt -- a first round submission (guillotine) over Josh Besneatte.
While impressive it is still only one fight and it's tough to judge a fighter on that alone. However, after watching that fight I have to admit I was pretty impressed.
The kid appears to have talent ... he's not just Ken's son. And who knows, in a couple of years he could be a major player in the 135-pound division -- stranger things have happened.
Having said that, Shamrock is not the only one in this match up who lacks professional fight experience.
Andrews has just two contests to his credit, winning both of them with first round technical knockout stoppages in the Cage Rage contenders promotion. Contenders is used for up-and-coming fighters to gain experience in the cage.
Being the first fight on the big stage for both of these guys, they'll be looking to make an impression, which should make it fun to watch.
Cage Rage 25 will be co-promoted by EliteXC (both of which are owned by ProElite.com) and feature the older Shamrock, Ken, taking on Buzz Berry in his debut for the promotion.
