Lightweight standouts Tyson Griffin (9-1) and Thiago Tavares (13-0) will face one another inside the Octagon at UFC 76: "Knockout" on September 22, according to FightNetwork.com.
Talk about an explosive match up.
Griffin is fresh off a thrilling split-decision win over Clay Guida at UFC 72 last month. In his previous bout, Griffin dropped a sensational unanimous decision to Frank Edgar at UFC 67.
And even though each fight went the distance, both were action-packed from bell-to-bell.
Tavares boasts a perfect professional record, which includes two wins inside the Octagon. The Brazilian looked amazing in his last fight, submitting the very tough Jason Black via triangle choke at UFC Fight Night 10 in April.
He also outpointed Naoyuki Kotani on all three judges scorecards in his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 9.
That win, however, is the exception and not the rule when it comes to Tavares -- he has finished more than 80 percent of his opponents early.
It's not going to be an easy task stopping Griffin, however. Likewise, Tavares is going to be yet another tough task for Griffin.
When Griffin fights, it always seems to turn into an instant classic. This should be no different.
