Spike TV will broadcast UFC 75: "Champion vs. Champion," which takes place on September 8 from the 02 Arena in London, England, for free at 9 p.m. ET via tape delay, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Here's a snip:
"UFC 75, featuring the light heavyweight unification bout between UFC champion Quinton Jackson and Pride titleholder Dan Henderson, will air free on Spike TV. The agreement between the UFC and Spike is a major coup for fans, who will get to see a pay-per-view caliber show without coughing up PPV dollars. The London show on Sept. 8 will be carried tape-delayed, beginning at 8 p.m., Central."
More details regarding the announcement are available in a press release issued on behalf of the UFC earlier this afternoon right here (Thanks to UFCmania reader "Zack" for the assist).
The last show in Manchester, England -- UFC 70: "Nations Collide" -- was also carried on Spike via tape delay. On the other hand, UFC 72: "Victory" -- the other card staged in Europe this year -- was a PPV event that aired during the afternoon.
Perhaps the UFC did indeed miss the chance to get UFC 72 on Spike, or the telecast didn't live up to expectations.
Regardless, it appears that we get to watch the unification bout between UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and PRIDE FC Middleweight Champion at no cost.
Not to mention Mirko Cro Cop, Michael Bisping and others.
The only real issue with the tape delay is the Internet -- most people (myself included) will know the results before they happen.
But that's a small price to pay for free MMA if you ask me.
