UFC 73: "Stacked" from the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, California, is set to go off tonight, featuring some of the most talented fighters in the sport today going toe-to-toe inside the Octagon.

UFC 73 blow-by-blow live main card commentary:
Anderson Silva vs. Nathan Marquardt (185-pound title fight)
Round one: Two come out, both not doing much. Nate gives a nice low kick. Nice right hand by Silva, but Nate takes him down and is in his Silva's guard. Silva, from the bottom, trying to soften him up with punches to the body. Nate still on top. Silva pushes him off, but Nate lands back in the guard. Some upkicks from Silva as he tries to escape, but Nate keeps the pressure on. Big John stands it up. Silva lands a big left and NAte goes immediately for a single leg. Silva switches it up, hits him with a straight right and opens up Nate. Nate is hurt and still is on the canvas. Ref stops the fight via technical knockout.
Result: Anderson Silva defeats Nathan Marquardt via technical knockout in round one

Tito Ortiz vs. Rashad Evans (205-pound limit)
Here we go! It's Mania and I'm siked for this fight. Rashad is coming out. He looks pumped and ready. Ortiz makes his way to the ring to a chorus of boos, traditional Mexican-American flag in tow. Let's get down to bit-ness.
I'm so curious about this fight. For the first time in along time, right or wrong, I have zero idea who is going to come away victorious.
Round one: Tito comes out with a head kick, shoots and takes Rashad down. Rashad is stuffed up against the fence, working for position, but Rashad stands up. The two exchange blows, but Tito manages to get him up against the fence again. Big John breaks it up and washes out the mouthpiece of Rashad. Middle of the round is tentative -- both fighters just feeling each other out. Tito goes for the takedown, Rashad stuffs it but is stuffed up against the cage. Rashad spins and reverses, now he has Tito up against the fence. Tito is cut under his right eye. Rashad counters with some nice takedown defense and the two head into the corners standing. I'll give round one to Tito.
Round two: Round two and both fighters are swinging but not much is happening. Evans goes for a takedown but Tito sprawls and the two are back up trading. Tito goes for the clinch and the two are working for position -- nice elbow by Ortiz. Rashad goes for a single leg takedown but Ortiz resists. Rashad is bouncing but not doing much now in the stand up. Tito gets a SLOW takedown and mushes Rashad up against the fence -- Ortiz eventually gets top position. Ortiz isn't doing any real damages, Rashad reverses and takes Tito down. Tito gets a point taken aways for grabbing the fence, but he's unphased, he nearly submits Rashad with a TIGHT guillotine. Rashad is saved by the bell.
Round three: Two exchange to open up the round, Rashad isn't doing much and gets pushed up against the fence. Evans works his way up and delivers some knees in the clinch. Tito is pushing the pace, but Rashad isn't doing much. Tito looks a little winded, but Rashad isn't doing much to captilalize. Rashad smells blood and is throwing haymakers to try and finish the fight -- not happening. Rashad gets a BIG takedown in the waning seconds of the fight and drops some SERIOUS elbows. Bell rings. Announcers, including Couture, are calling for a draw.
Result: Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans fight to a DRAW!

Sean Sherk vs. Hermes Franca (155-pound title fight)
Round one: Here we go. Hermes with a HUGE knee. Hermes catches him in a guillotine. Sherk escapes! Sherk on top in fulll guard. Dropping punches. Full mount for Sherk! Sherk to side control. Hermes scrambles, Sherk relentless looking for submissions. Sherk back on top. SHerk with elbows, but Hermes doing a good job on defense. Full mount again for Sherk! Sherk has the back Franca scrambling. Hermes on top, but Sherk reverses. end of the round.
Round two: Hermes with a leg kick.Hermes with a HUGE knee!! Hermes with a guillotine but Sherk escapes!!Sherk on top. Sherk in full mount but Hermes reverses! Sherk back on top in north south position. Sherk back in half guard Sherk lands a big elbow. Sherk in side control. Hermes scrambles. But back to side control for Sherk. Hermes reverses! Sinks in a guillotine! Bell rings.
Round three: Sherk shoots and lands a slam. Sherk back on top. SHerk dropping some punches. Nice elbow by Sherk. Hemres scrambles. Sherk on top. Sherk working from side control. Sherk has the back. Hes dropping in punches. This round is low on action the pace has slowed Sherk is going to the blanket technique. Hermes scrambles but Sherk stops him dead in his tracks and is back on top. Sherk going for an Americana, but hermes stops him.
Round four: Hermes looks gassed. Another HUGE knee, but Sherk takes him down instantly. Again hes on top. Hermes back to his feet. Sherk again with a take down. Hermes to the feet. HUGE slam by Sherk. Right back into side control. Sherk utilizing punches from side control. Mostly laying on top. now using some knees. Hermes scrambles again back to the feet. Franca with another knee. Sherk with another take down. Sherk has his back. Sherk with another take down. Sherk has the back again.
Round five: Last round. Leg kick by Sherk Hermes goes for another knee but missed. Sherk with another big slam and passes to half guard. Sherk laying on top. Two vicious elbows by sherk. Great upkick by Hermes. Another take down by Sherk. Sherk raining punches. Sherk has his back again. Hermes back to the feet but right back down. Hermes goes for a knee bar but sherk escapes. Sherk still working from the top. Hermes to the feet. Its over, Franca fought his heart out but this one is going to Sherk.
Result: Sean Sherk defeats Hermes Franca via unanimous decision

Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira vs. Heath Herring (265-pound limit)
Round one: Big Nog looks raved up. Nog clinches and takedown instantly. Side control for Nog. Peppering in some punches from Nog. Nog still in side control and Herring gets to his feet. Nice exchange between the two in the stand up. Nog stalking him. Herring keeping his distance with a jab. Nog with a flurry. Knee by Nog wit Herring countering with an uppercut. Nog hurts him with a straight left then follows with a knee! Another jab from Nog. HUGE knee from big Nog. Nog stalking still Herring bleeding another huge knee from Nog. Herring with a huge head kick!!! Nog is hurt bad!!! Nog in trouble. But the bell saves him!!! WOW,20 more seconds this fight woulda been over.
Round two: Nog is still on wobbly legs. Nog taking his time. Herring not chasing. Nice leg kick by herring. Herring looks too hesitant. Nog with another jab hes looking better. Nog throws a flurry. Herring is telegraphing a headkick. Nog with a take down. Nog in full mount! He has the back now! Herring rolls to the top control!! Hes in Nogs full guard. Both fighters stand up. Nice stiff jab by Nog. Leg kick by Heath. Another jab from Nog. Clinched up against the fence. Nog with another take down. He won that round with it.
Round three: Final stanza, and both fighters look worn out. Nog with a nice flurry. Two jabs from Nog. Good leg kick from herring. Nog with another take down. right into side control. Nog has the back. sinks in the choke!! Herring escapes!! hes on top now. Nog working for a kimura. Herring spins out. Over under control for Nog. herring back to his feet! Clinched on the fence. Another head kick from Herring. Nog working his jab. Herring is gassed. Leg kick by herring. Nog still chasing. It's over, I think Nog took it tow round to one but you never know.

Stephan Bonnar vs. Mike Nickels (205-pound limit
Round one: The two come out and feel each other out, Bonnar throws a kick and Bonner catches it. Bonnar reverses and takes the back of Nickels. He locks in an Americana and transitions to a rear naked choke. Nickels taps. Fight is over. Bonnar is back!
Result: Stephan Bonnar defeats Mike Nickels via submission (rear naked choke) in round one

Jorge Gurgel vs. Diego Saraiva (155-pound limit)
Round one: Gurgel connects early with a right hook to the side of the head. The action is fast and furious. Gurgel eats a knee in the clinch. Gurgel gets the takedown and mounts Saraiva and dishes out some serious punishment. Gurgel lets him up and the two spar for the last 20 seconds of round one.
Round two: The round begins and Diego lands some solid shots and the two remain on the feet for most of the round. Lots of good exchanges, both fighters are doing well and it is a fairly even exchange throughout. Diego starts to get the better of Gurgel later in the round, Gurgel ties him up and takes Diego down. Diego gets up and continues to get the better of the stand up toward the end of the round. Solid action.
Round three: This round, again, begins with some stand up, which is not what most expected with two Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialists. Diego lands a low blow and the two touch gloves. The fight goes to the ground and Gurgel lands in Diego's guard, raining down punches. The round ends with a fairly even stand up. Gurgel's face looks like chopped meat -- mouses under both eyes. The decision comes in, and the crowd is not happy. Gurgel via unanimous decision.
Result: Jorge Gurgel defeats Diego Saraiva via unanimous decision

Chris Lytle vs. Jason Gilliam (170-pound limit)
Round one: Lytle comes out and drops Gilliam immediately. He pounces and begins to dish out some ground and pound. Lytle goes for a leg and Gilliam escapes from a knee bar. Lytle transitions to a wicked reverse triangle and Gilliam taps! Gilliam appears injured and walks out of the ring gingerly.
Result: Chris Lytle defeats Jason Gilliam via submission (triangle choke) in round one

Frank Edgar vs. Mark Bocek (155-pound limit)
Round one: Both fighters land shots that do considerable damage. Edgar, however, gets the best of the exchanges despite being dropped to one knee during the round. Toward the end of the stanza, Edgar pins Bocek to the ground and rains down punches. Bocek is not defending himself and the referee steps in with five seconds remaining in round one and stops the fight via technical knockout (strikes).
