Well, we got our answer.
Earlier we passed along news that Rich Franklin would headline the first-ever UFC show in Ireland on June 16. Now, according to MMAWeekly.com, that event will be considered UFC 72.
The former UFC 72 -- which features the Anderson Silva-Nate Marquardt and Sean Sherk-Hermes Franca championship bouts -- is now UFC 73 and will still take place on July 7.
It's no real big deal ... unless you run a MMA-oriented Web site and have been writing posts about an event that is incorrect. We'll go back and make the changes, but I'm warning it's not going to happen overnight.
Just please keep that in back of your mind in the next few days.
In addition to the Franklin-Kampann middleweight showdown, we're also in store for a few interesting potential match ups.
Here's how the new UFC 72 fight card looks so far:
-Rich Franklin vs. Martin Kampmann
-Forrest Griffin vs. TBA
-Jorge Gurgel vs. TBA
-Tyson Griffin vs. Clay Guida
Griffin-Guida? I'm already calling it the fight of the night.
