UFC President Dana White apparently wasn't joking when he said during a recent interview, "If PRIDE is for sale, I'm interested."
According to MMAWeekly.com, Zuffa did indeed make an offer to purchase the Japanese mixed martial arts promotion from Dream Stage Entertainment (DSE), but was rebuffed.
Here's a snip:
... the Ultimate Fighting Championship made an offer to purchase Pride, but their offer was declined.
Instead, it looks like the president of PRIDE USA, Ed Fishman, is the frontrunner to purchase PRIDE "outright" and "re-establish PRIDE as the global leader in the industry."
Keep in mind, these are negotiations — ownership has not changed hands ... yet.
However, it looks like White's bid to monopolize the industry buy purchasing his biggest competitor will have to wait — at least for now.
