UFC President Dana White and a contingent of popular fighters are scheduled to meet with the British press tomorrow to discuss upcoming plans for the United Kingdom "invasion," according to MMAUniverse.com.
Here's a snip:
The Ultimate Fighting Championship will be holding a media day to trumpet their return to British shores. The UFC will hold a meet-and-greet dinner where the press can meet UFC President Dana White, Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell, Heavyweight Title contender and MMA legend Randy Couture along with the UFC's new golden boy, TUF3 winner Michael "The Count" Bisping.
It is speculated that the Manchester Evening News (M.E.N.) Arena is the odds-on choice to host the first UFC show in England since UFC 38 in 2002.
Back then, the Royal Albert Hall was the preferred venue, which holds around 6,000 visitors. The M.E.N., on the other hand, is the largest indoor arena in Europe and can pack in nearly 23,000 fans.
Think the UFC has come a long way in four short years or what?
At any rate, British MMA fans are in store for an overload of MMA action come April.
The tentative date for UFC 70 is April 28, which is a week after Cage Rage — the UK's mixed martial arts brand — is planned to hold an event. And, according to the report, on the same day as Cage Warriors plans to host its event.
Must be nice.
