Emelianenko bound for the UFC?

Aleksander Emelianenko

PRIDE FC heavyweight Aleksander Emelianenko wants Tim Sylvia's belt, according to a recent article in Graciemag.com.

Here is a snip from Emelianenko:

"Tim Sylvia is a good fighter. Let's just say that, if I have the chance to face him, I will take it from him with pleasure."

The 6'6" Russian, who just last night lost to Fabricio Werdum via guillotine choke in round one at the 2 Hot 2 Handle (2H2H) event in Holland, plans to soon finish talks with the UFC about coming onboard.

Aleksander, the younger brother of PRIDE FC Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko -- the most dominating force on the planet in the division -- has compiled a 9-3 mixed martial arts record, fighting some of the stiffest competition around.

If he is successful in his bid to one day fight in the Octagon, it would help him escape the shadow Fedor and instantly upgrade a lackluster UFC heavyweight division.

And what about Sylvia? If you remember, in a FOXSports.com interview last week, he had this to say about Fedor:

"I want to fight Fedor. We're the two champs, we're the two best in the world in our weight class. I want to prove I'm the best. When all the talk was happening with Wanderlei, I called Dana and told him to get a match made with me and Fedor. Dana said ‘slow down, let's do things one at a time.' I know the way things are and I know this is all politics. If it could happen I know I want it and I know Fedor would take the fight."

Well, be careful for what you wish for Tim. While Aleksander is no Fedor, he is still an Emelianenko.

Let's not forget about Jeff Monson this Saturday, too.
