Prior to a catastrophic motorcycle accident in 2004, which nearly cost him his life and left leg, Frank Mir was at the top of his game.
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion has since returned to the Octagon, compiling an unimpressive 1-1 record so far this year.
It's safe to say the he is no longer "The Baddest Man on the Planet." But, the talent that Mir possesses is undeniable.
Check out this highlight reel, which includes the grizzly armbar he slapped on Tim Sylvia, snapping it in two to capture the crown at UFC 48: "Payback."
Those are some sick submissions, which is the reason he has been a disappointment since his return. He has looked out of shape, and nowhere near as "cat like" in his fights against Cruz and Christison.
On November 18, Mir will go up against undefeated Brandon "The Truth" Vera, which should tell us where he is at in terms of being an elite heavyweight contender.
For the sake of the UFC, and all us fans, we hope to see a war between these two talented young stars. Both have the skills and personalities to resurrect an uninspiring UFC heavyweight division.
