The UFC today confirmed what we had long speculated:
John Alessio (23-9) and Thiago Alves (15-4) will go toe-to-toe in the Octagon at Ultimate Fight Night, which will take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida, on October 10.
Both welterweights are coming off of tough UFC losses and will look to get back on track. Alves was TKO'd in the second round by Jon Fitch in his last UFC bout. And, Alessio is still reeling from a controversial loss via unanimous decision against Diego Sanchez -- a fight that many fans feel Alessio won.
Here's a snip from Alessio:
"[Alves] is an aggressive fighter, which will play well into my fight style because he'll come right at me, allowing me to counter effectively. I also think my jiu-jitsu is better than his."
<!--[endif]-->Of course, headlining the event on SpikeTV will be the third installment of Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock.
We'll continue to keep you updated as more fights get confirmed.
