As the UFC continues its meteoric rise in the public consciousness, more and more newspapers are beginning to catch on and dedicate significant resources to cover the world's most popular mixed martial arts organization.
We came across this blog in the Houston Chronicle yesterday, which had a nice post about the upcoming middleweight bout between David "The Crow" Loiseau and Mike "Quick" Swick at UFC 63: "Hughes vs. Penn."
It should be a competitive fight, unlike the four bouts Swick has been in, which all ended in the first round. With his gutsy performance against Rich Franklin back in March, Loiseau showed he is one of the toughest dudes in the division.
Here is a snip from the blog:
The bout [Loiseau vs. Swick] has a lot of similarities to the Tito Ortiz-Forrest Griffin hook-up at UFC 59. Proven veteran against young upstart. One guy with a ton of potential, but still a bit wet behind the ears, versus an established fighter, with a lot to lose.
Great comparison.
Whether it's a vicious Loiseau elbow or a first round submission from Swick that ends this fight, it should be an exciting 15 minutes between these two come September 23 at Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim, California.
