Several published articles lately have focused on the UFC's surge in popularity and how it will soon – if it hasn't already – eclipse boxing.
Many of which, albeit speculative, have been right on.
But Mary Buckheit -- who was just recently introduced to mixed martial arts at UFC 62 -- wrote an article for Page 2 on ESPN.com that pretty much sums it all up.
It's not about the marketing, endorsements or crazy personalities. Sure, they all help. But what it all boils down to is the rawness and simplicity of two men locked in a cage beating the hell out of one another for 15 minutes.
It's fast, exciting and unpredictable ... unlike the normal day-to-day lives that we tend to lead on a daily basis.
