It took Anderson Silva just 49 seconds to earn a shot at the UFC middleweight championship.
That's all the time "The Spider" needed to destroy Chris "The Crippler" Leben in his UFC debut during Ultimate Fight Night on June 28 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Now, he's zoomed to the top of the pack in a somewhat weak division to welcome middleweight champ Rich "Ace" Franklin back to the Octagon in his first title defense since sustaining injuries in a win over David "The Crow" Loiseau back in March.
Here a snip from Silva in an article today in the Calgary Sun:
"They gave me a chance to fight for the title and I'm going to take it. They've given other people a chance to fight for the title but they didn't make the best of their opportunity. Me, I'm going to make sure I make the best of it."
UFC 64: "Unstoppable: is set for October 14 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, Nevada.
Sean Sherk and Kenny Florian will go at it that same night in the co-main event for the right to the vacant UFC lightweight championship.
