White, Hughes and Pierre appear on ESPNews' 'The HotList'

Dana White interviewIn case you missed Dana White's BIG announcement yesterday on ESPNews' "The Hot List," you can check it out right here.

Essentially, is was the official announcement that Matt Hughes would defend the UFC Welterweight Championship against Georges St. Pierre at UFC 63 on September 23.

We didn't need ESPN to tell us that obvious fact.

Dana White dedicated the rest of the interview to discussing the recent spike in UFC popularity, as well as the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 4. Strange note: A screen graphic intimated that the winner TUF 4 will not only get a six-figure contract, but also a "title fight." Is that a fact or an ESPN boo-boo?

We'll have to wait and see on that one.

To close the segment, Hughes and St. Pierre appeared together to discuss their previous match and experiences in the UFC.

All in all, it was rather anticlimactic. Sure, it was great to see the UFC get some air time on the biggest sports network in America, but it really didn't provide the "breaking" news that those of us who follow the UFC would have liked to hear.
