What happens now after UFC Ultimate Fight Night 5

Despite its differences with the UFC, Sherdog.com does a pretty good job of covering and analyzing the MMA organization.

An article recently on the Web site talked about the recent Ultimate Fight Night 5 on SpikeTV and offers some opinion on what we can expect in the relatively near future.

Here are a couple of snips for your convenience:

--Stephan Bonnar is still in the mix for a light heavyweight title shot in the near future despite his loss to Rashad Evans;

--Jon Fitch – the best fighter in the world that no one knows about according to UFC.com – will get chance at the light heavyweight belt within a year;

--Light heavyweight Jason Lambert will probably go up against guys like Alessio Sakara or Keith Jardine to truly see just how good this kid is;

--With Jens Pulver back in the UFC, we may see BJ Penn cut back down to 155 pounds to avenge his loss to the lightweight at UFC 35 in 2002;

--Despite his win over Jorge Gurgel, Mark Hominick is still in line behind the likes of Kenny Florian, Sean Sherk, Spencer Fisher, Jens Pulver and BJ Penn in a surprisingly loaded lightweight division that just returned to the UFC

--If both fighters stay healthy and win their upcoming bouts, we will probably see the superfight rematch that's taken way too long to materialize: Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz. Look for this to happen around Super Bowl weekend 2007.

--UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin could make his return to the Octagon at UFC 64 on October 14, probably against a considerably weaker opponent so he get a good tune up for a possible fight with Anderson Silva;

--Justin Levens is retiring after his knockout loss to Jorge Santiago.
