Aaron Tru from MMAprime.tv caught up with UFC fighter Brandon “The Truth” Vera this week. Vera discussed his last fight against Shogun Rua, which was arguably the fight of the year and one of the most fan friendly fights in recent memory. Vera talks about an accidental injury after a trip to Hawaii, where he blew out his MCL during training. He expects to be out another 6 weeks before going back to hard training. For those who do not remember when Brandon Vera debuted inside of the Octagon, he was thought to have been a title contender in both the 205lbs light heavyweight division and the 205-265lbs heavyweight division. During that period, Vera had a unique swagger and aura of confidence surrounding him. Even though Vera lost the battle to Shogun Rua, he proved his warrior spirit and heart, fighting on when he could have quit and putting on a show for the fans till the bitter end when he suffered a tko defeat at the hands of the former Pride and UFC Champion Rua. That battle brought out the old Vera; the one who had that aura of confidence and swagger. Vera makes sure to let all of the 205lbs light heavyweight division know that that are on notice, because he is back and coming for them! All of a sudden, Pat “HD” Barry walks by and we had to invite him into the discussion. Barry had just cornered a fighter in the semi finals of the Bellator Tournament against a fighter from Brandon Vera’s gym. Barry, regarded as the #1 corner man in MMA according to the UG faithful still had the adrenaline going from having literally been the corner man for a split decision victory within 5 minutes of the interview at the most, gave us a raw, uncut and real look into the emotions of a corner man. Pat Barry is then asked about people mentioning his name as a fighter who could step up to face Mark Hunt or another heavyweight on the UFC 160 card now that Overeem is injured and off the card against JDS. Barry offers to not only fight me, but to fight anyone at anytime. Barry continues on to say that he does not want to fight Mark Hunt, Brandon Vera or anyone else, but as a man and a fighter he will. Barry claims to have sensitive, female like hands, but we all know that he is really one of the most deadly and powerful punchers on earth. Barry proves to be a genuine person, who speaks from the heart and is caring of others. The opposite of a tough guy, thus proving the age old saying, that tough guys don’t act tough. Having both Vera and Barry together, I asked them about their significant others: Brandon Vera is the husband of Kerry Vera, who is 2-0 in her undefeated campaign as a WMMA fighter and Pat Barry is boyfriend of rising WMMA star Rose “Thug” Namajunus. Both men are huge supporters of WMMA and go into detail about how they feel it will continue to grow and take off. They talk about how a mother is the most deadly thing on earth. Barry is such a fan of the movement and sport that he is so bold as to say, “If you aren’t a fan of Invicta, get out of my face!” Read more: http://mmaprime.tv/2013/03/08/wmma-husbands-ufc-fighters-pat-hd-barry-and-brandon-vera-epic-interview/#ixzz2MwOjfPMI
