The sweat stained canvas is filled with the blood of the event's competitors, including but not limited to Diego Nunes's head after getting cut by Kenny Florian's razor sharp elbows and Shane Carwin's face after its encounter with Junior dos Santos's fist. Shane Carwin has been hitting the gym -- hard -- in advance of his UFC 131 bout against Jon Olav Einemo on June 11. According to the big man's Twitter, he's currently walking around at a slimmed down 254-pounds. "The Engineer" hasn't weighed in for a UFC fight at a weight that low since his promotional debut back in May 2008.

Heavyweight wrecking machine Shane Carwin turned 36 on Jan. 4 and celebrated his birthday with a sweet potato cake that marked the beginning of a new diet that he hopes will help him overcome the final hurdle in his quest for UFC gold -- his conditioning. From his blog: "I have changed my diet and I am going to do my best to eat organically and use food as the prime nourishment for my body. I am cutting back on all of the supplements and I hope to weigh in around 265 without having to cut leading to the fight. No post fight IV and no stress or strain on the body." Anyone think "The Engineer" will wear the heavyweight strap in the near future as a result of these changes?
