UFC 117 video review, Chael Sonnen, Roy Nelson and more on ESPN's 'MMA Live'
UFC heavyweight and coach of this upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Roy Nelson just tweeted a photo of himself after a swim practice with Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz and Gilbert Melendez. Says Nelson, "Now I'm ready for my first triathlon." If there was any doubt that the Cesar Gracie team would be participating with Nelson to help coach this upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter, I think this picture puts that to rest. By the way, judging from the photo, how crazy is it that the Diaz brothers fight in different weight classes?
Fabricio Werdum is busy trianing for his return to the UFC against Roy Nelson on Feb 4th, 2011 at UFC 143. Werdum is set to make his return to the UFC after a 3 year run in StrikeForce. Hear from Fabrcio, his team and the man they have dubbed “Hoy” Nelson as he prepares for UFC 143. (Source: MMAprime.tv)
Roy Nelson finally deciding to get in shape? If a recent tweet from Mike Dolce, famed nutritionist, is any indication, "Big Country" just may be getting serious about it: "@roynelsonmma It was great meeting you and your wife this week. Let's continue our conversation." The "Dolce Diet" is responsible for whipping into shape such beefy brawlers as Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Thiago Alves. Can Dolce work his magic on Nelson, as well?
Season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), initially scheduled to feature both middleweights and welterweights, will now feature only 170-pound fighters, according to Heavy.com. The coaches for the popular reality television series are also reportedly set to be announced in the coming week. With Frank Mir now booked to fight Roy Nelson, that would seemingly nix a previously rumored coaching stint against Brock Lesnar. Chael Sonnen is out indefinitely, so that rules him out. Chris Leben's name was mentioned but he just lost to Brian Stann at UFC 125. Who does that leave, Maniacs? Care to speculate on who the honors will go to?
Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller says he wants to knock some sense into voters. He is teaming up with UFC for a voter registration rally called "Fight for Your Ultimate Right" at noon on Wednesday in Pida Plaza, which is part of a campaign aimed at inspiring voter turnout. Two-time heavyweight champion Frank Mir and Roy "Big Country" Nelson will speak at the event. Read full article here.
