Miesha Tate speaks in depth about Ronda Rousey: “She is very controversial the way she markets herself. She gets people interested by saying things that pisses people off or makes people laugh. That is kind of her marketing standpoint and she is really disrespectful in a lot of ways which I am not a fan of. Personally I value this sport as a sport. I do understand it is entertainment, but you know, I have so much love and respect for it, and the athletes who do it, that I would never want to straight out disrespect someone or go out there and talk trash. Because I have the most respect for everyone who steps in the cage regardless. It takes a certain kind of person to do that and for her to say something like Georges St Pierre is not good for the sport just goes to show how new and ignorant she is to this whole thing. She kind of comes on with this miss know it all attitude. She thinks she knows everything about marketing and she is just very self entitled and she really talked herself into this title fight. It was more her mouth than anything else: more than her wins or skill set or whatnot, that really got her this spot. And I don’t agree with that. I don’t think she belongs here and I am going to do everything in my power to send her to the back of the line.” Tate the Strikeforce bantamweight title holder also said about the March 3rd bout, ” I don’t think that Strikeforce expects me to win actually.” There is much more… Listen to the interview with MMA2DAY Show.
Carlos Condit Pre UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit Interview with MMA2DAY Show February 2, 2012Penny Buffington - PennyJoMMA MMA2DAY Show Interview with Carlos Condit. UFC 143: Interim Welterweight Championship bout: Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit Saturday, February 4, Mandalay Bay Events Center, Las Vegas, Nevada live on pay-per-view. Some Highlights from the Interview: “Either your going to kick my ass or I am going to kick your ass.” “He is well rounded so to have a one dimensional game plan would be a mistake. He has got great Jui Jitsu so taking him down is dangerous, great stand-up, so keeping the fight standing is dangerous.” “You have to promote the fight, you have to promote yourself. You have to look at this as a business. This is a job. This is what pays the bills so you have got to do what you have got to do to promote yourself. “On the other hand: I am not going to compromise myself and try to be something I am not just to sell fights.” Concerning GSP: “You know he is pretty secure as far as his career, as far as his legacy and financially I would imagine. But other fighters they are really living fight to fight, you know, that’s what’s paying the bills. So, sometimes you have got to overlook an injury and put it in the back of your mind and hope that it doesn’t become a bigger problem.” “It’s a tough way to make a living whether you are kind of on the bottom of the pay scale or toward the middle or even on the high end. As the sport grows I think the pay is going to grow.” “It’s tough. There’s a lot of guys who have talent and allot of potential but stuff happens they get injured. Can’t do a fight; you cant pay the bills, and end up doing something else, and having to kind of give up on their dream. You know for everyone successful in the UFC their is probably 20 or 30 guys that get washed out and wasn’t able to do what they wanted with their lives as far as pursuing a career in MMA.”
