Pic: Nate Diaz gives Ben Henderson the middle finger during their UFC on FOX 5 main event last night. Those watching at home probably didn't see it because the network, which is on a brief delay, cut out to an image of an empty Octagon. Diaz was clearly frustrated, unable to do much of anything after a close first round. To watch full fight video highlights click here.
UFC heavyweight and coach of this upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Roy Nelson just tweeted a photo of himself after a swim practice with Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz and Gilbert Melendez. Says Nelson, "Now I'm ready for my first triathlon." If there was any doubt that the Cesar Gracie team would be participating with Nelson to help coach this upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter, I think this picture puts that to rest. By the way, judging from the photo, how crazy is it that the Diaz brothers fight in different weight classes?
Nate Diaz, unlike his brother, actually showed up to his superfight this past weekend at the Gracie Open 2012. Diaz's opponent was Osvaldo Augusto Queixinho, a two-time Brazilian national champion who owns a BJJ school in San Jose, CA. Diaz was recently awarded his black belt under Cesar Gracie, but it didn't help him here as he was finished via toe-hold, which looked pretty damn painful.
Eddie Alvarez sits next to UFC President Dana White during the main event fight between Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller at UFC on FOX 3 last night (Sat., May 5, 2012) in New Jersey. Is the former Bellator lightweight champion finally coming to the world's largest fight promotion? Stay tuned. For complete results and blow-by-blow coverage of all the night's action click here.
Pic: Nate Diaz "finally" awarded Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt from Cesar Gracie today, according to Jake Shields (R). His brother Nick Diaz (L) also makes it into the photo. Diaz will next get the opportunity to put his superior grappling skills to the test when he takes on Jim Miller in the UFC on FX 3 main event, which is set for the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J., on May 5, 2012.
Nate Diaz, who came in at 157-pounds initially for his lightweight scrap against Donald Cerrone at UFC 141 tomorrow night (Dec. 30, 2011), was able to cut the additional pound in the allotted time. The bout is now official. For complete UFC 141 weigh-in results click here and for staredown pics click here.
Video: Why Nate Diaz flip off Donald Cerrone's "stupid-ass" cowboy hat and shove him at UFC 141 presser? Nate and his brother Nick talk (and giggle) about the incident backstage. For everything you need to know about the confrontation click here.
Coalition Fight Music (CFM) has reportedly come to an agreement with the Cesar Gracie team to provide custom walkout music for fighters from the gym, starting with Nick Diaz for his upcoming title shot against Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 137 on Oct. 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Other notable fighters out of the Gracie camp are Jake Shields, Gilbert Melendez and Nate Diaz. Will this quickly become a growing trend in MMA sponsorship is it this just a flash in the pan? Time will tell. Props: MMA Weekly
