Gilbert Melendez wants to prove he's the best lightweight in the world ...
Pic: Former Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez looks to be in fantastic shape prior to his world title fight against 155-pound kingpin Ben Henderson in the UFC on FOX 7 main event, which tops off a loaded free fight card from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., on April 20, 2013. Think the extra bulk will benefit "El Nino" on fight night or is he over-matched regardless? Photo via Facebook.com.
UFC heavyweight and coach of this upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Roy Nelson just tweeted a photo of himself after a swim practice with Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz and Gilbert Melendez. Says Nelson, "Now I'm ready for my first triathlon." If there was any doubt that the Cesar Gracie team would be participating with Nelson to help coach this upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter, I think this picture puts that to rest. By the way, judging from the photo, how crazy is it that the Diaz brothers fight in different weight classes?

Peanut-butter Oreos and McDonald's drive-thru ... breakfast of champions? We'll find out on Saturday night when Jorge Masvidal tries to steal the 155-pound strap from Gilbert Melendez at the Strikeforce event in San Diego, which "Gamebred" is preparing for in the above Fists of Fortune video. Anyone else like to suck down a Big Mac before getting hit in the gut with a medicine ball? Anyone?
Coalition Fight Music (CFM) has reportedly come to an agreement with the Cesar Gracie team to provide custom walkout music for fighters from the gym, starting with Nick Diaz for his upcoming title shot against Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 137 on Oct. 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Other notable fighters out of the Gracie camp are Jake Shields, Gilbert Melendez and Nate Diaz. Will this quickly become a growing trend in MMA sponsorship is it this just a flash in the pan? Time will tell. Props: MMA Weekly
