Pic: Nate Diaz "finally" awarded Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt from Cesar Gracie today, according to Jake Shields (R). His brother Nick Diaz (L) also makes it into the photo. Diaz will next get the opportunity to put his superior grappling skills to the test when he takes on Jim Miller in the UFC on FX 3 main event, which is set for the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J., on May 5, 2012.
Coalition Fight Music (CFM) has reportedly come to an agreement with the Cesar Gracie team to provide custom walkout music for fighters from the gym, starting with Nick Diaz for his upcoming title shot against Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre at UFC 137 on Oct. 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Other notable fighters out of the Gracie camp are Jake Shields, Gilbert Melendez and Nate Diaz. Will this quickly become a growing trend in MMA sponsorship is it this just a flash in the pan? Time will tell. Props: MMA Weekly
We knew Jake Shields had brought Chael Sonnen in to train with the Cesar Gracie team to get him ready for Georges St. Pierre on April 30 at UFC 129. We saw the photographic evidence to prove it. But has Sonnen gone from a part-time training partner to a full-blown member of the 209 boyz (Pic)? Don't be scared, Michael Spitsbing.
