UFC Quick Quote: Anthony Johnson could return as a middleweight by November 2010
Mustachioed mixed martial arts (MMA) referee, Steve Mazzagatti (sans mustache), recently admitted that he -- along with the absence of instant replay -- is the reason for Anthony Johnson's loss to Kevin Burns back in 2008. "Rumble" took a clear finger to the eye, but reacted so violently that the poorly positioned Mazzagati thought it was in response to a punch and stopped the fight (see pic here). Johnson and Burns would later run it back and the former would emerge victorious via head kick. No harm, no foul? Wonder if Mazz's MMA mea culpa is the first step in reconciliation with UFCs Dana White.
Pic: Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski can't seem to let go of the past, donning a pair of UFC-branded gloves for his World Series of Fighting (WSOF) 2 main event bout against Anthony Johnson (watch full video highlights here). Perhaps WSOF-branded gloves were left at home along with those pads and cage canvas. Regardless, Arlovski seemingly won't need his old gloves for UFC duty after dropping a unanimous decision to "Rumble," a welterweight not to long ago, in a match up that company president Dana White didn't think was legit in the first place. At least he's got a few souvenirs ... Props: TitoCouture.com
Anthony Johnson weighs 211-pounds just hours before his "middleweight" fight against Vitor Belfort, who weighs 205-pounds, at UFC 142 tonight (Sat., Jan. 14, 2012) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This according to UFC President Dana White, who tweeted the update just minutes ago. Does this make anyone feel differently about the match-up?
