UFC 146 bonuses and awards for 'Dos Santos vs Mir' fights in Las Vegas
UFC 146: "Dos Santos vs. Mir" from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $70,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.
In a shocker, Roy Nelson was awarded "Knockout of the Night" honors for unloading some heavy artillery at Dave Herman in their heavyweight hoedown on the main card on pay-per-view (PPV). "Big Country" went wide with a haymaker, it connected, and "Pee-Wee" went night night.
Nelson wasn't the only one awarded "Knockout of the Night" honors, however. Indeed, his old buddy and training partner, Dan Hardy, was also slipped a big bonus check for his first round sleeping of Duane Ludwig on the FX broadcasted portion of the preliminary card.
Maybe it was just a monetary "thank you" for justifying Lorenzo Fertitta's decision not to cut him.
"Submission of the Night" was no easy task as three men impressively caused taps, naps, and snaps. So instead of actually making a difficult decision, UFC President Dana White decided to give out two.
The first went to Paul Sass for putting a sock in Jacob Volkmann by grabbing an arm and taking it home with him. Sorry, folks, no post-fight promo on Barack Obama this time.
Stefan Struve was also rewarded handsomely for making quick work of Strikeforce import Lavar Johnson. "Big" was knocking heads off since making his way to the Octagon but "The Skyscraper" put an end to that by nearly ripping his arm off just over one minute into the contest.
And thanks to double dipping on the first two, a "Fight of the Night" bonus was not given out. Pooey.

In a shocker, Tom Lawlor was awarded "Knockout of the Night" honors for unloading some heavy leather on Jason MacDonald in the opening bout of the main card on FUEL TV. Of the 12 bouts that took place this evening, only one of them ended by way of knockout.
Way to make Dana White's job easy, Lawlor.
"Submission of the Night" was also easy pickings, as main event competitor Chan Sung Jung submitted the tough-as-nails Dustin Poirier in the fourth round with a slick D'Arce choke that may very well have earned "The Korean Zombie" a title shot against Jose Aldo.
Jung double dipped tonight, as he was also awarded "Fight of the Night" honors alongside Poirier for their thrilling back-and-forth war of attrition that saw the former choke out the latter to a booming reaction from fans who had been chanting "U.S.A." just moments prior. It's a tough loss for "The Diamond," but that extra coin lining his pockets should provide him with some measure of comfort.

In a shocker, Lavar Johnson was awarded "Knockout of the Night" honors for unloading some heavy artillery at Pat Barry in the opening bout of the main card on network TV. Johnson threw a ton of "Big" bombs in stunning "HD" quality until he got the desired result.
Barry on his ass. And later in the hospital.
"Submission of the Night" was also easy pickings, as main event competitor Nate Diaz submitted the tough-as-nails Jim Miller in the second round with a slick one-arm guillotine that had the New Jersey native biting on his tongue and spitting up blood.
Quite the visual for executives at the FOX network, no doubt.
Finally, Louis Gaudinot and John Lineker were awarded "Fight of the Night" for their thrilling back-and-forth war of attrition that saw the former choke the latter unconscious after jumping a guillotine in the second round. Lineker earned his extra $65K just by hanging on for as long as he could and losing consciousness with just six seconds remaining in the round.
So close but so far away.

"Big" Ben Rothwell got himself into tip top shape for his heavyweight showdown against Brendan Schaub and it paid off in the form of a knockout that seemingly summoned the ghosts of Octagon past. That's because "The Hybrid" had his eyes rolling in every direction while he was fighting off phantom opponents after getting his clocked cleaned.
Certainly "Knockout of the Night" worthy.
Considering the fact that only one bout on the entire 12-fight card ended by way of tapout, the "Submission of the Night" bonus was an easy decision for UFC President Dana White. Travis Browne rag dolled Strikeforce import Chad Griggs before locking in an arm triangle and finishing the job.
La-de-da.
Finally, Mark Hominick and Eddie Yagin were awarded "Fight of the Night" honors for their bloody, back-and-forth war of attrition that saw the latter come away with a split decision victory. It was a close fight that featured a few knockdowns, busted noses and hematomas and it's no surprise they were given the green to help heal their wounds.
Especially "The Machine," who has now lost three in a row.

UFC on FUEL TV 2 bonuses and awards for 'Gustafsson vs Silva' in Sweden

It took a decade for Siyar Bahadurzada to make his way to the world's largest fight promotion but it only took him 42 seconds to earn "Knockout of the Night" honors in his debut win over Paulo Thiago. "The Great" has now effectively navigated a tough first obstacle and looks poised to make a serious splash at 170-pounds.
Speaking of the welterweight division, John Maguire put his name on the map with a sweet straight armbar finish of DaMarques Johnson that was good enough to earn him "Submission of the Night" on a card that featured six tapout finishes.
Who said Brits can't grapple?
Finally, Brad Pickett and Damacio Page were awarded "Fight of the Night" honors for their thrilling, back-and-forth war of attrition that saw old "One Punch" put one on the sweet spot that had "The Angel of Death" seeing stars. And while Pickett couldn't finish by way of technical knockout, a submission is just as good.
Really, who cares how you get the $50K, right?
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC on FUEL TV 2:
UFC on FX 2 bonuses and awards for 'Alves vs Kampmann' in Australia
UFC on FX 2: "Alves vs. Kampmann" from the Allphones Arena in Sydney, Australia, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $50,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's leaving "The Land Down Under" with a second sack of simoleons.
It's definitely not a surprise that Joseph Benavidez was awarded "Knockout of the Night" honors for his second round smashing of Yasuhiro Urushitani in the semifinals of the flyweight tournament. Turns out those insane odds at the books were right after all.
"Submission of the Night" was also a landslide in favor of main event winner Martin Kampmann, who used a Hail Mary guillotine choke to tap Thiago Alves after getting his brain rattled for 14 minutes. He said he was going to finish the fight and avoid any crazy judging shenanigans and that's exactly what he did.
And it got him an extra $50K. Can't hate the hustle.
Speaking of judging and scoring errors, Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall engaged in a spirited, back-and-forth battle that ended in a split decision in favor of the former. Or at least that's what we told at first. It was later learned that a scorecard error was made by the Commission in Australia and the bout should have gone to the fourth round, the sudden victory round instituted to avoid draws.
Oh, the irony. The cruel, cruel irony.
Maybe it's not so bad after all, as the two had one hell of a scrap that resulted in their being awarded "Fight of the Night" honors. They'll also rematch in the very near future to do it all again. Sounds like a gay old time.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC on FX 2:
UFC 144 bonuses and awards for 'Edgar vs Henderson' in Japan
UFC 144: "Edgar vs. Henderson" from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.

On a night that featured four strong candidates for "Knockout of the Night," Anthony Pettis took home the coveted honors thanks to his head kick special on Joe Lauzon in the opening fight of the main card on pay-per-view. That likely has something to do with the decision but let's face it, it was a sweet kick.
Equally as sweet, if not more so, was Vaughan Lee's armbar of Norifumi Yamamoto, which earned him "Submission of the Night" honors. Sure, he was the only guy to score a victory by way of tapout, but that shouldn't overshadow how slick his finish was.
Finally, Frankie Edgar and Ben Henderson were awarded "Fight of the Night" honors for their thrilling, back-and-forth war of attrition that went all five rounds and 25 minutes in front of a grateful crowd at the Saitama Super Arena. Ultimately, a new lightweight champion was crowned, as "Bendo" did enough to earn the unanimous decision win, close as it may have been.
It was one hell of a night, Maniacs.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 144:
UFC on FUEL TV 1 bonuses and awards for 'Sanchez vs Ellenberger' in Omaha
UFC on FUELl TV 1: "Sanchez vs. Ellenberger" from the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $50,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's leaving "The Gateway to the West" with a second sack of simoleons.
The heavyweights brought the thunder tonight and thankfully delivered the "Knockout of the Night" in the process. Stipe Miocic survived an early onslaught from Philip De Fries to counter with a straight right down the pipe that put the Brit on his back for a sweet English nap.
All in just 43 seconds.
The "Submission of the Night" was an easy pick, considering only one of the 10 fights that took place ended by way of tapout. And that was thanks to Ivan Menjivar, who used a rear-naked choke to force a tap from John Albert after an incredible first round of action.
Finally, Diego Sanchez and Jake Ellenberger were awarded "Fight of the Night" for their thrilling war of attrition that featured "The Juggernaut" running through "The Dream" for two rounds before fading late to give Sanchez a chance to get back in the fight. And while Carlos Condit has said he'll wait for Georges St. Pierre, a rematch against Ellenberger sounds about as good as it gets.
Stay tuned.
