UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey (via Instagram) is back on the cover of ESPN -- though this time she has her clothes on -- to celebrate the mag's 15th anniversary. The issue, which also spotlights Kobe Bryant and Tom Brady, among others, hits newsstands this Friday (May 3, 2013). See more of "Rowdy" this fall when she coaches TUF 18 opposite Cat Zingano (details here).
UFC Octagon Girl Brittney Palmer reporting live from the UFC 159 event in Newark, NJ, had this to share with her fans on her official website: "My ass did make it to the show tonight. Thank you." No, thank you. The world is a better place because of it, which is why fellow card-carrier Arianny Celeste was so eager to press her lips against it (see it go down right here). Now, if you'll excuse me ...
Alan Belcher continues with the eye injury updates from his official Twitter.com account, providing a pic of lacerated lid that required eight stitches to fix after Michael Bisping accidentally poked him in the third and final round of their UFC 159 co-main event this past weekend. "The Talent," who was unable to continue, went on to drop a technical decision to "The Count." The good news is that injury, which you can watch happen here, was not more serious. A very close call, considering his 2010 surgery to correct a detached retina in the same eye, one that nearly ended his MMA career.
UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones tied Tito Ortiz for most successful light heavyweight title defenses at five with his first-round shellacking of Chael Sonnen at UFC 159 last weekend in Newark (watch the replay here). "Bones" could break the record his next time out -- unless Ortiz makes good on his threat to come out of retirement and do some winning of his own. Unfortunately, the former "Bad Boy" from Huntington Beach has just one victory in nearly seven years, going 1-7-1 over his final eight fights. Then again, I hear Chael Sonnen could be looking for another 30-something veteran in the second half of 2013. Tickling anyone's fancy?
-- Former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion Randy Couture continues to expand his business ventures outside of mixed martial arts (MMA) competition as "The Natural" has released his own personal brand of cologne. The "Xtreme Couture" fragrance has been in stores since February, and the 49-year-old recently sat down with ESPN to discuss how the cologne came to be. Read that interview here.
Oh, what a trip to the hospital can do! UFC Light Heavyweight Champion posted a much less gruesome photo of his big toe just an hour ago. This time, it was taken after Humpty Dumpty was put back together again following his first round TKO victory over Chael Sonnen. Hopefully "Bones" has a speed recovery and will be taking on actual light heavyweights soon.
-- You saw the picture, now you can see the gruesome Jon Jones toe break in action as GIF master Zombie Prophet captured the replay of the moment “Bones” bone broke on the UFC 159 broadcast. According to UFC President Dana White, Jones suffered a compound fracture and will be on the sidelines for an unknown period of time.

-- UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones cruised to an easy first-round TKO victory over Chael Sonnen, but it didn’t come without a cost, as “Bones” suffered a disturbing break to his big toe. It’s unknown exactly how the champion suffered the injury, but in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan he said there might have been a hole in the mat. -- The highly anticipated middleweight fight between Michael Bisping and Alan Belcher ended in underwhelming fashion when an accidental eye poke by “The Count” to Belcher’s surgically repaired eye forced referee Herb Dean to stop the fight part way through the third round. The fight then went to the judge’s scorecards where Bisping won a technical decision. Keep up with all of the UFC 159’s action by reading our play-by-play thread here. GIF courtesy of Zombie Prophet.
