Matt Hughes comments on his next UFC fight and pending retirement (Video)

"Everything's good on my end. Still kinda laid back. I have started to work out, so we're sort of seeing how my body feels and this and that. But, as far as answering any questions about what I'm doing next or who I would be competing against next -- I don't know. Taking it back to Pat Miletich, who's basically a brother of mine, he had a loss on his last fight for a long time, and I was on him, 'Hey, get back in there!' I know. I've sparred with the guy. I've wrestled with the guy. He's a talent. So I was very happy for Pat to get back in there and get his hand raised and walk out. I'm under that mentality, so I definitely want to get in there and get my hand raised and then maybe call it quits. But I'm not the only deciding factor here. There's my wife on the other end, there's the UFC ... so, we just gotta come together and figure out what's going on."

Former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes, who hasn't been seen since going stiff at the hands of Josh Koscheck at the UFC 135 pay-per-view (PPV) last September, talks to Inside MMA about his next fight inside the Octagon and pending retirement. The fading legend doesn't want to retire on back-to-back knockout losses, but still has to sort through his personal life to make sure everything lines up the way he needs it to before committing to another full-time training camp. Anyone think this old dog still has some new tricks? Or is it time for Hughes to ride off into the sunset once and for all? How would you match him up if he came back?

Diego Sanchez vs Jake Ellenberger fight video preview for UFC on FUEL TV 1 in Nebraska

In the main event of tomorrow night's (Wed., Feb. 15, 2012) UFC on Fuel TV 1 event in Omaha, Nebraska, Diego Sanchez returns to take on top welterweight contender Jake Ellenberger. A title shot isn't officially on the line but a win certainly puts one of the two in prime position to contest for the division crown much sooner rather than later.

Sanchez is pumped and ready for challenge, especially considering his opponent is one he finds easy to get up for:

"It really gets me excited to know I'm going in there with someone who's going to go in there and try to take my head off. I love these kind of fights, that's why I signed up."

Ellenberger essentially feels the same and is looking forward to tangoing with the always unpredictable "Nightmare:"

"Fights are very unpredictable, especially against a guy like Diego Sanchez. I'm not really sure where this fight's going to go but I'm looking forward to it."

It's a race to the center of the Octagon, Maniacs, with 170-pound glory on the line. Who takes it when these two powerful warriors meet inside the cage?

UFC on FUEL TV: Jake Ellenberger vs Diego Sanchez fight video prediction with Martin Kampmann

"If Ellenberger comes in and connects with some hard shots in the beginning, then I think he's going to take it. The later the fight goes, the better for Diego. You know, Diego's got good cardio and I think that when Ellenberger fought Carlos Condit, he almost stopped the fight, but he kind of gassed toward the end and Condit kept going. And Diego is going to keep going. So, the longer the fight goes, the better for Diego. But, Ellenberger has got dynamite in his hands, so he could stop it quick, too."

Top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight Martin Kampmann provides his expert breakdown of the upcoming UFC on FUEL TV main event between Jake Ellenberger vs Diego Sanchez, which takes place at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Neb., on Feb. 15, 2012.

"Hitman" -- who dropped a very close and controversial decision to Sanchez last year -- seems to think that the "Dream" will have to grind down the "Juggernaut" to come away victorious. On the other hand, he suggests that Ellenberger's power might carry him to an early victory; however, Sanchez is perhaps the toughest out in the welterweight division.

Is Ellenberger the man who can finally turn out Sanchez's lights or will Diego's blistering, in-your-face attack be too much for the hometown favorite?

Georges St. Pierre ringside at UFC 143, reacting to Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit fight (Video)

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre was sitting cageside at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Feb. 4, 2012, when Nick Diaz vs. Carlos Condit battled for five rounds for the 170-pound interim world title.

And the camera was by his side all night long to get his immediate in-fight reactions.

"Rush" is on the mend from recent knee surgery, meaning the former Strikeforce and World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) champions, respectively, went toe-to-toe in the UFC 143 main event to determine who would lead the division until the Canadian sensation is ready to return to mixed martial arts (MMA) action later this year.

St. Pierre, like many people inside the arena that night in "Sin City," appeared to side with the judges, awarding the controversial decision, reluctantly, to Condit. He made no bones about it that he preferred to fight Diaz because of personal reasons.

"The Natural Born Killer" did indeed go on to get the nod from the judges, which set of a firestorm of backlash from Diaz and his supporters. He abruptly retired, his camp called for a rematch, Condit eventually agreed, UFC President Dana White prematurely announced that it would happen, and then Diaz failed his post-fight drug test because of his marijuana use.

What a long strange trip its been.

There's no word at this time when Georges St. Pierre vs. Carlos Condit will be booked to unify the 170-pound world titles. St. Pierre is expected to return in the fall, which means that Condit could be asked to take another fight -- perhaps against the winner of Jake Ellenberger vs. Diego Sanchez -- before that happens.

Stay tuned.

UFC 144 video preview for 'Edgar vs Henderson' on Feb. 25 in Japan (Extended)

For the first time in over a decade, the world's largest fight promotion is heading back to "The Land of the Rising Sun," as UFC 144: "Edgar vs. Henderson" invades the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, on Sat., Feb. 25, 2012.

The pay-per-view event features a lightweight championship bout that should prove to be a thriller, as reigning titleholder Frankie Edgar puts his strap on the line against former WEC 155-pound king Ben Henderson.

Also in action on the card is Quinton Jackson, who will look to bounce back from his loss to light heavyweight deity Jon Jones against Ryan Bader. And don't forget about Yoshihiro Akiyama making his welterweight debut against Jake Shields, who is looking to avoid a three fight losing streak.

It's certainly not the most loaded of fight cards, but it's a pretty damn good event, Maniacs.

UFC on FUEL TV 1: Jake Ellenberger prepared to hurt 'stupid guy' Diego Sanchez with a 'full-blown assault' (Video)

"If you let [Diego Sanchez] dictate the pace of the fight, and the range, you're going to be in for a long night. If he wants to go that break-neck, stupid-guy pace, I can do that, too. But, I plan on hurting him on my feet -- I know I can hurt him. If he wants to come out and bully-rush like he normally does, then I think he's going to get hurt. So, I'm really prepared for anywhere the fight goes…. I'm looking forward to showcasing [my improved stand up] in this fight and making it a 15-minute, full-blown assault on my part…. I'm excited."

-- Nick Diaz and his recent (and very disappointing) UFC 143 drug test failure might have us all consumed at the moment, but there are other welterweight fights on the horizon. In fact, there is a pretty good one on tap between Jake Ellenberger vs. Diego Sanchez, which will headline the first-ever UFC on Fuel TV main event on (Wed., Feb. 15, 2012) from the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Nebraska. And it's not outside the realm of possibility that the winner of the 170-pound match up takes on newly-crowned division interim champion, Carlos Condit, in the near future with Diaz facing a lengthy suspension and Georges St. Pierre still recovering from knee surgery. How do you like them apples, Maniacs?
