After finally getting a fight following a five month layoff, Joseph Benavidez’s return to action has been delayed a bit longer, as the top Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight contender has been forced out of UFC Fight Night 110.
Benavidez was all set to face off against Ben Nguyen at the upcoming FOX Sports 1-televised event on June 10, 2017 from inside Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand before he suffered an undisclosed injury in training.
Benavidez took to Twitter to share the bad news:
Sad to share that I suffered an injury, will not be fighting June 10th. I'll focus on what I can do and be back. Thank you for the support.

Bummer.
Joseph was last seen defeating Henry Cejudo at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 24 Finale last December, giving him his sixth straight win and inching him closer to another shot at Demetrious Johnson's division strap.
A win over Nguyen would’ve likely put him over the top, but now “Joe Jitsu” will have to ride the pine a bit further, though the extent of his injury isn’t known at this time.
UFC Fight Night 110 is expected to be headlined by a hard-hitting heavyweight bout that will see Mark Hunt trade heavy leather against Derrick Lewis. In the co-main event, Derek Brunson will face off against streaking contender Dan Kelly.
