Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion Conor McGregor is reportedly close to signing a multi-million dollar contract to challenge undefeated pugilist Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a mixed martial arts (MMA) vs. boxing “super fight.”
Or so the click bait tells me.
But in order for “Notorious” to try his luck in the sweet science, he must first prolong his already lengthy absence from the Octagon. Fortunately, top contender Tony Ferguson doesn’t sound too concerned.

"It's a marathon, not a sprint. And the difference is a lot of people that float up to the top really quick, they just keep floating and they go away. That's what I see Conor doing, he's on his way out. He's using Mayweather as an excuse to come out of the woodwork but this is a real man's sport and if he wants to go into boxing and get his ass kicked over there then that's up to him.”
Actually, it’s up to this guy.
While McGregor is off delivering babies, Ferguson will fight for the interim championship against fellow top contender Khabib Nurmagomedov in the UFC 209 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event next month in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Not that “El Cucuy” cares about titles anyway...
