Finally!
Former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz has not won a mixed martial arts (MMA) fight in nearly five years, and has not seen action since January 2015, thanks to a disciplinary suspension that booted him from Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
One that could have been much, much worse.
But that all ends today (Mon., Aug. 1, 2016), as the stranglehold Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) had on the Stockton slugger is no more. That's the good news. The bad news? The soon-to-be 33-year-old Diaz must now compete under the watchful eye of United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
That means Diaz (26-9, 2 NC) will have to kick this habit or find himself back on the bench. In addition, he'll now be forced to trot himself out to the cage in Reebok garb, so no more Metal Mulisha. Now all we have to do is find a potential opponent for his UFC return later this year.
I hear Robbie Lawler is looking for a rebound fight.
