When you’re expecting a check for $360 million in the mail, you don’t expect to have a nervous freak out moment.
But, that’s exactly what happened Dana White after Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta pulled the trigger on the massive $4 billion sale of the company to WME-IMG (details here).
For White, the though of working with new partners kind of shook him a bit, which forced him to go full Howard Hughes for a few days in a Las Vegas hotel room.
He broke it all down during his recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live:
"You know, you get to the point where you...you know, I'm 47, and I've been working, we've been doing this for almost 20 years. And I don't know what else I need. I can tell you this, and this is the honest to god truth. When this deal closed, it bugged me out a little bit. I don't know. When you make that kind of money and my partners, I've been with them for more than 20 years. So that's going to change, I have new partners now. And yeah, I kind of Howard Hughes'd myself up into a hotel room for a couple of days. I couldn't eat or sleep, it kind of freaked me out a little bit."
For those of you who have no clue who Howard Hughes is, he was a billionaire entrepreneur, filmmaker, aviator among other things who once locked himself in a room for months, indulging in chocolates and milk.
He did the same thing a few years later, reportedly going into full seclusion the final years of his life.
Dana, though, can’t afford to do that, as he still has plenty to do for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) after signing a lucrative five-year deal to remain company president.
