Not long after their vehicle was identified, two suspects were arrested and taken into custody in connection with the death of former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight and longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran Ryan Jimmo.
"Big Deal" was reportedly involved in a parking lot altercation last Sunday, which turned fatal when he was struck and killed in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The driver, Anthony Getschel, is charged with second degree murder, criminal negligence causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and fail to stop at scene of accident involving death, according to the Edmonton police.
His passenger, Jordan Wagner, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Getschel is 23 years old while Wagner is just 21, which adds another layer of awfulness to this already-tragic story.
Fighting out of Halifax, Jimmo (19-5) was last seen competing under the ZUFFA banner in May 2015, parting ways with the world's largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion -- which released a statement on Monday -- in the wake of his unanimous decision loss to Francimar Barroso.
The autopsy confirmed Jimmo died as a result of blunt force trauma.
