GFL Preview: Top 5 fights to watch on Go Fight Live this weekend

Nicolai Salchov may be Germany's greatest import, and is a can't miss MMA prospect.

The German looks to continue his impressive winning streak of five straight this weekend as he walks into House of Fame MMA 5 looking to make a statement against UFC veteran Steve Montgomery.

Gofightlive.tv is where you can catch all the action this weekend with a simple click of a button.

Remember folks; House of Fame 5 isn't the only action going on this weekend. So without further ado let's take a look at the top five fights to watch on GFL this week.

5. Mohammed Abed-Rabuh vs. Joey Gomez- Prime 7

Clark County event center is in for a treat!

Headlining what is an absolutely stacked card for Prime 7 will be Mohammed Abed-Rabuh battling Joey Gomez for Lightweight gold.

Gomez will be stepping into enemy territory, as Abed-Rabuh will be fighting in his hometown with a massive fan base behind him.

Not only will the crowd be against him, but Gomez will also face a steep test inside the cage against Abed-Rabuh, who boasts a record of 2-1 thus far. In his last bout at Knucklehead 12, the Clark County resident put his opponent away in three minutes flat with a vicious knockout.

Gomez is no slouch though, and has proven his toughness inside the cage on numerous occasions.

While it may seem like Gomez is being put out there as the sacrificial lamb, he undoubtedly has the tools to pull off an incredible upset.

4. Joshua Freeman vs. Cedric Terrell Smith: Spartyka Fight League 23 (VOD)

While this fight may have already happened, it sure was spectacular to watch.

The main event of Spartyka Fight League 23 featured two rising prospects in Joshua Freeman (4-1-1 ) and Cedric Terrell Smith (3-0) looking to put on a show and earn Heavyweight gold.

In a wild fight, both men left everything they had inside the cage, providing one of the best fights of the year thus far on GFL.

Without giving away the winner of the bout, it's safe to say that the Spartyka Fight League Heavyweight Championship bout is a must watch.

3. Abdiel Velazquez vs. Haender Rodriguez- House of Fame MMA 5- Resurrection Day

Now we're entering the meat and potatoes of the weekend.

The co-main event at House of Fame MMA 5 between Abdiel Velazquez vs. Haender Rodriguez should be something special.

Both fighters are walking in with a solid amount of experience and with a chip on their shoulders. Velazquez is coming off a gruesome bout that came down to the wire in a fifth round loss to Jarred Brooks in the same promotion, where as Rodriguez is flying high following a quick first round knockout victory.

Don't let Rodriguez's 7-6 record fool you: While "Cubita" probably won't ever fight for the UFC or Bellator MMA, he is a stiff test on the regional scene for a great prospect like Velasquez.

At 5-2 and only 22-yeards old, "The Nightmare" is one of the best prospects in Florida today. If Velasquez hopes of fighting for UFC in the future, he can't afford a second straight loss this weekend.

This fight will likely go down to the wire and provide some incredible highlights.

Will Velazquez be able to pull out the much-needed victory?

2. Mark Carosella vs. Mikey Flores - Warrior Nation Fight Series 39: Sandusky Showdown

Warrior Nation Fight Series consistently puts on exciting shows on GFL, and WNFS 39 will feature more than a dozen bouts that will satiate your fighting needs.

One bout in particular to look out for is the amateur Featherweight fight between Mark Carosella and Mikey Flores.

The 22-year old Carosella is already 5-0 in his young MMA career, with four victories via stoppage. If the Demolition Fight Team product can earn another finish this weekend, he may want to consider going pro.

As for Flores, "Flo-Motion" has impressively stormed back from an 0-2 start to his MMA career, rallying to win two straight fights.

While Flores will come in as the decided underdog, he is not someone who can be counted out due to his sheer toughness alone.

Both of these men are amateur fighters looking to make a statement in the Ohio regional scene, and what better way to do that than pulling off a thrilling finish?

The Ohio crowd will be rocking when these two to go head to head this weekend.

1. Nicolai Salchov vs. Steve Montgomery - House of Fame MMA 5: Resurrection Day

The biggest fight of the weekend is unquestionably Nicolai Salchov vs. Steve Montgomery.

Salchov has made it this far into his career undefeated at 5-0, but that won't mean much come Saturday when he faces off against the dangerous UFC veteran Montgomery.

Currently sporting a 9-4 record, Montgomery is clearly no push over, and has dreams of returning to the big show.

Following his release from UFC last year, Montgomery made quick work of his opponent at AFC 25 this past April via submission on GFL.

Could another victory earn "The Creepy Weasel" another shot inside the Octagon?

Montgomery will come in with the decided experience advantage, but Salchov is a legitimate talent with the tools to go far in this sport.

With two wins via knockout and two via submission, the German prospect has proven to be a threat on both the feet and the mat.

This fight has major implications for both men, and could determine who gets a shot in the big show next with a victory.

It will be great to see whether or not these two fighters can live up to the main event hype in Florida.
