Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a reasonable promotion. It takes care of its fighters so long as those fighters fulfill their responsibilities, which include obvious tasks like making weight and showing up for mandatory press conferences.
Despite being the promotion's most marketable and lucrative star on the roster, UFC Featherweight champion Conor McGregor missed the memo. His ongoing quarrel with the organization, stemming from a missed press conference earlier this month that led to the Irishman being pulled from UFC 200's main event slot, has grabbed the attention of media members across the world.
FOX Sports personality and host of "The Herd," Colin Cowherd, is among those who have an open opinion on the McGregor vs UFC saga. His recent rant can be seen in the above clip.
"Here's a rule for a 27-year-old millionaire. Don't take on a 50-year-old billionaire," said Herd. "UFC fans think this is Conor against Dana White. It's not. It's Conor taking on the Fertitta family. The single most powerful family in Nevada."
As many know, Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta made an astronomical amount of money in the Las Vegas casino business before buying UFC back in 2001, which was brought to their attention by White.
"A 27-year-old kid has lied publicly, twice." added Cowherd. "He's dumb. You don't do that. Millionaires don't get into whizzing matches against billionaires. You'll lose every single time."
While Cowherd does have a point about publicly challenging a seemingly untouchable figure, McGregor does have a lot of pull around these parts. The 145-pound king will find it nearly impossible to wiggle his way back onto the UFC 200 card, but he should be primed for an Octagon return by the end of 2016.
