UFC On Fox 19 Does 2.5 Million Viewers

Last Saturday, UFC on Fox 19 featured some good fights including Glover Teixeira's 1st round knockout over Rashad Evans and the return of Khabib Nurmagomedov. The ratings for the Fox show are in and Teixiera's main event bout did a 1.4 million rating and 2,487,000 viewers.

Overnight ratings were initially at 2.13 million average viewers, according to TV by the Numbers. The numbers are good and similar to past UFC on Fox events but slightly down from the last Fox show in January. UFC on Fox 18 averaged 2,685,000 viewers. UFC on Fox 18 featured Anthony Johnson when he knocked out Ryan Bader in the very first round.

Although the ratings for UFC on Fox 19 are slightly down from the last show, the card featured many changes that could have contributed to the slight ratings decline.

Initially, the main event featured Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, Ferguson pulled out of the fight due to a lung injury. The card then featured another setback when Lyoto Machida was forced off the card from a USADA violation. Machida was caught using a banned substance in an out-of-competition drug screening.

So these setbacks and shifts to card could have contributed to the slight ratings decline. However, they are still impressive given that UFC Tampa event only featured four fights on the main card.

Saturday night's show peaked at 2.8 million viewers. Also, the UFC was sharing sports audiences that same night when the Boston Celtics took on the Atlanta Hawks. That game did roughly 2.9 million viewers and was on ESPN.

The next UFC on Fox show will be in Chicago on July 23 at the United Center. Some fights have already been announced including Felice Herrig vs. Kailin Curran in a strawweight bout.
