If you think Venator FC peaked with the addition of Jason Miller vs. Luke Barnatt, think again.
The international mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion recently announced the addition of Matt Hamill vs. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, as well as Che Mills vs. Roberto Rigamonti to its May 21 fight card, locked and loaded for Palasesto Arena in Milan, Italy.
"Matt Hamill vs. Sokoudjou is a hell of a fight," Venator President Frank Merenda said (via MMA Junkie). "It's wrestling vs. judo, as in the ancient times. Two real warriors will collide to decide who has the strongest heart and the biggest passion, will and desire to climb back up the mountain of stardom in MMA."
The 39-year-old Hamill (11-6) retired a few times while plying his trade for UFC, then went to WSOF to see if he could make some noise on the regional circuit. Unfortunately, "The Hammer" was nailed by Vinny Magalhaes and is just 1-4 dating back to late 2010.
Sokoudjou, 31, is coming off back-to-back losses in 2015 and currently stands at 16-14.
Mills (16-8, 2 NC) hasn't fared much better since parting ways with UFC in 2013, notching just one victory in four fights under the CWFC banner. Rigamonti (4-2) has already competed twice for Venator FC in 2015, a split draw opposite Jack Mason followed by a unanimous decision loss to Peter Queally.
As for the controversy surrounding the aforementioned "Mayhem" Miller? I'll let the Venator head cheese take it from here.
