Former women’s super welterweight champion and all-around boxing icon, Christy Martin, isn’t a big fan of Ronda Rousey’s.
That’s because Martin doesn’t believe the "Rowdy" one is a good example for women, young girls, or for anyone, for that matter, since it seems every other word out of her mouth is a curse word.
As Martin (48) recently told Fight Hype, she’d give anything to be 10 years younger to step into the ring or cage with here. Speaking of which, Martin — for whatever reason — doesn’t believe Rousey will actually fight on Dec. 30, 2016 at UFC 207 against women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.
She also threw some shade at Holly Holm, too.
"We will see if it happens. I would give anything if I were 10 years younger just to show her. I mean, are you kidding me? Holly Holm knocks you out? Holly Holm punches like a feather. Ronda Rousey, to me, is the worst public female image that we could ever have out there. Simply because she can not sit here and have an interview with you without cursing word after word after word. I mean, come on, we are out here to set an example for women, young women, young girls; for people in general. Talk like you are intelligent. When you have to use every other word with "f" this and "f" that, that shouts your lack of intelligence and your lack of vocabulary. Not only did she get her shit knocked out by a non-puncher, she’s a poor example for a person. I don’t think we will ever see her on December 30th unless Dana White has some serious contract on her that she can’t do anything else, including movies, commercials and so on unless she gets back in the ring. We will never see her in the ring again."
In Holly’s defense, she knocked out Rousey via head kick (see it), and she defeated Martin in 2005 via unanimous decision.
Nevertheless, Christy isn’t too fond of Rousey’s foul language and all-around persona and doesn’t believe she’s right persona young women should be looking up to. That, of course, is one person’s opinion, as Ronda has gone on to be a trailblazer for women’s MMA and has one of the largest fan bases in the world.
That said, Martin still isn't sold on Rousey on a role model and also isn't buying that the former 135-pound champion will actually make her return at UFC 207.
