The hits just keep on coming.
The Bellator 163 fight card and line up, already tattered by the withdrawal of Marloes Coenen vs. Talita Nogueira, suffered another last-minute change after Paul Daley struggled with his 170-pound weight cut.
Opponent Derek Anderson will be paid his “show” purse.
"After a difficult weight cut, we, along with Mike Mazzulli from the Mohegan Athletic Commission, made the decision to pull Paul Daley from tonight's event as a precautionary measure," Bellator president Scott Coker told MMAFighting.com. "Fighter safety is of the utmost importance to us here at Bellator."
This is not the first time “Semtex” has struggled with his weight cut, though it should be noted he was able to make his mark for Thursday’s weigh ins.
Better to err on the side of caution, I suppose.
The promotion is expected to promote one of its Spike.com undercard fights to the Spike TV main card; however, the line up has not yet been finalized at this time. The action gets underway later tonight (Fri., Nov. 4, 2016) inside Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on the cable-television network.
Stay tuned.
