Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight contender, Gegard Mousasi, is fresh off his technical knockout victory over Vitor Belfort at the UFC 204 pay-per-view (PPV) event earlier this month in Manchester, England.
But don’t expect him to rest on his laurels.
Instead, the “Dreamcatcher” wants to get back into the cage as quickly as December, which features a couple of high-profile PPV events (like this one) for maximum exposure. The issue, at least in terms of matchmaking, is finding a suitable opponent.
Mousasi talks to Metro.co.uk:
"Uriah Hall or Anderson Silva, those are the fights I want as soon as possible, but they're not going to give either of them to me. It doesn't make sense for them. I would love to fight to fight in December, but that's up to them. They're not going to give me fights because everyone is booked. So probably, they'll give me one in February or something like that. The two worst match-ups for me at the moment would be Jacare or Yoel Romero. Style-wise, they're not so great match-ups for me. But Chris Weidman or Luke Rockhold, they're much more suited to my style of fighting."
Mousasi was stopped by Hall roughly one year ago.
Since then, the Strikeforce import rattled off three straight wins with two finishes, including the aforementioned shellacking of “The Phenom.” Of the fighters mentioned by name, Hall and Silva remain unbooked.
Though matchmakers might opt to try this again.
