CM Punk's Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut went south in a hurry, as Mickey Gall spoiled the ex-pro wrestler's party by finishing him in just over two minutes at UFC 203 a few weeks ago in Cleveland, Ohio (see it again here).
Afterward, company president Dana White declared that Punk's next fight would likely not be inside the Octagon, stating that it would be in his best interest to get some more experience on the regional circuit, first. However, during a recent interview on the "UFC Unfiltered" podcast, White didn't completely rule out CM's return to the eight-walled cage.
"So what I told him to do is go home, spend some time with your wife, be normal for a little while and we'll get on the phone and talk. Obviously we haven't talked yet, but we will, we'll see what's next," said White.
Some don't believe Punk will return to the bright lights of UFC, given that his first fight proved he's far from up to par with the world's greatest fighters. Other's like Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley believe Punk has plenty of fight left in him.
That said, Dana isn't taking anything off the table when it comes to the ex-WWE superstar.
"You know, we'll see. I've got to talk to him, see where his head's at and what he's thinking, you know."
While Punk didn't quite show his full fighting potential at UFC 203, his drawing power proved legit, as the pay-per-view (PPV) was said to be one of the highest of 2016 that didn't included Conor McGregor.
Anyone thing Dana White and Co. will flip the script and welcome Punk bank into the cage sooner, rather than later?
