One of the most exciting and talented wide receivers in all of the National Football League (NFL), Antonio Brown, will honor the late Kimbo Slice by wearing custom game day cleats complete with the late bearded brawlers face plastered across one of the shoes during the team's game against the Miami Dolphins later today.
And they are pretty sharp looking:
Slice -- real name Kevin Ferguson -- passed away on June 6, 2016 of heart failure at the age of 42 (full details here). Of course, Slice made a name for himself by knocking heads in unsanctioned fights in the mean streets of Miami.
Brown honoring late athletes is nothing new, as the talented wideout honored Muhammad Ali and Arnold Palmer earlier this year. Unfortunately, the NFL powers that be weren't feeling the sentiments, as he was fined for wearing un-approved shoes and was warned that he would be benched if he failed to change shoes.
The other shoe will have the face of former Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez on it, who passed away last month in a tragic boating accident (details here).
Indeed, neither fines or threats of getting benched will prevent Brown from honoring those in the sports world we've lost along the way.
