World Series of Fighting (WSOF) comes to Budweiser Events Center in Loveland, Colo., on Saturday, March 12, 2016, with "Gaethje vs. Foster" live on NBC Sports.
WSOF 29's main event of the evening has been in the making since the WSOF 25: "Lightweight Tournament" card in Nov. 2014, where Brian Foster rebounded from an early submission loss to Joao Zeferino to re-enter the tournament as an injury replacement and ultimately knocked out "The Brazilian Samurai" in the final match.
That victory earned Foster a guaranteed title shot against undefeated (15-0) Lightweight champion, Justin Gaethje, whose last title defense was a sensational finish of Luis Palomino in their second meeting at WSOF 23, ending the bout via second round technical knockout. Eight of Gaethje's 15 wins have come inside the WSOF Decagon.
WSOF President Ray Sefo offered his thoughts on the 155-pound match up:
"This is a fight between two phenomenal athletes who are at the top of their games right now and whose fighting spirits are bound to make it an all-out war in the cage that will see the better man that night walk away as world champion."
No additional bouts for WSOF are official at this time, but expect several fight announcements in the weeks and months ahead. WSOF 29 tickets are already on sale.
