Top-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight contender, John Dodson, finally earned his championship rematch against current titleholder, Demetrious Johnson, in tonight's (Sat., Sept. 5, 2015) UFC 191 pay-per-view (PPV) main event inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The pair first met at UFC on FOX 6 in Jan. 2013 to crown the division's inaugural UFC champion after a four-man elimination tournament. Johnson would go on to win a close unanimous decision (watch it) and hasn't looked back since, defending his title five times in dominant fashion.
In fact, Johnson has been so impressive inside the Octagon that he is recognized as the No. 3-ranked best pound-for-pound fighter in UFC today. Dodson has not been quite as active because of an injury-related layoff (knee surgery), but he has been almost as impressive, winning three straight against solid competition.
It will soon be time to put up or shut up.
See you tonight!
