"Dreamcatcher" came into the exchange with The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 runner-up, Hall, on a two-fight win streak, looking to make the trek up the 185-pound ladder, but any momentum was quickly squashed following the latter's enormous knockout win.
For Hall, this was his second attempt at a short notice fight over the last three months and boy did he deliver.
In the first round, the Dutchman raced out to a quick start, taking him down early and working towards full mount. At moments, Mousasi looked like he'd achieve it, but "Prime Time" showcased his underrated and improved jiu-jitsu skills by getting the fight back to full guard.
Mousasi attacked with an arm-triangle choke from half guard later in round one, just as Hall retaliated with an armbar submission.
Moving into round two, Hall took charge, starching the former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion via an incredible spinning back kick to the face. It landed as flush as can be.
Hall, 31, added a knee for good measure and some heavy follow-up punches to force the referee to call the contest 25 seconds into the second frame.
For the unranked Jamaican, this victory cannot be understated. In what is a surefire candidate for "Upset of the Year," Hall (likely) vaults himself into the Top 10 of UFC's 185-pound division, while Mousasi will see his "elite" credentials fade away.
Hall sees his record climb to 12-5. Mousasi drops to 33-6-2.
