Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has Floyd Mayweather's number. Not only did "Rowdy" beat him for "Best Fighter" at the 2015 ESPY awards, the Olympian also pulled in more pay-per-view (PPV) buys for her most recent title defense.
UFC 190: "Rousey vs. Correia" generated nearly one million purchases, while "Mayweather vs. Berto" -- expected to be "Money's" final fight -- was able to scare up just 550,000 paying customers, a "generous estimate" according to industry insiders.
"I'm not surprised," Rousey told TMZ. "A lot of people were pissed after that Pacquiao fight."
Rousey is referring to the oft-maligned "Fight of the Century" that featured Mayweather's showdown against longtime nemesis Manny Pacquiao. While the quality of the bout is debatable, some fight fans complained that $100 was too much to charge for a 12-round snoozer.
As for the UFC champ, she'll soon get the chance to do something no other UFC fighter has done to date. No, she won't bank the billions that Mayweather does, but she will try to fill the massive Etihad Stadium -- capacity 60,000 -- in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on Nov. 14, 2015.
