Remember that whole "Anderson Silva was just screwing around when he got caught" excuse that fans used when Chris Weidman shocked the world and dethroned the UFC middleweight champion at UFC 162?
Yeah, Chael P. Sonnen aint buying it. Appearing on MMA Noise with Mike Straka, the retired mixed martial artist said when Silva was knocked out in the first fight he was doing exactly what he does every time.
"Up until that point, it was a seven and a half minute fight, Weidman won 7.5 minutes of that fight," said Sonnen. "Same thing with the second fight they had. That was a weird finish and it pains me and I hate to see that Anderson went through that, but the bottom line is before that weird finish Chris Weidman dominated."
However, "The People's Champ" was impressed with Silva's comeback fight against "cardio machine" Nick Diaz at UFC 183, saying the Brazilian pushed the pace and fought very well. Of course, the aftermath of that fight has left both fighters sitting on the sidelines for a while.
Sonnen also responded to Michael Bisping's comments about "cheating, scumbag" Vitor Belfort, saying the British fighter has a legitimate beef with fighters -- Sonnen included himself on that list -- who were using testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) when they defeated him.
"All of us have the same testing problem in our past. He has the right to be angry, and at Vitor specifically because there was a lot of questions surrounding that and there was multiple tests, or what do you want to call them, fails or red flags."
Sonnen, 38, also talked a little bit about an exciting time in his personal life (and no, it's not his drunken giddy excitement for U.S. presidential hopeful Donald Trump). Thero Stephen Sonnen was born June 4, 2015, making Chael P. a daddy for the first time.
Naturally, there are high expectations.
"He's in training right now for the 2036 Olympic Games."
