With moviegoers flocking in hoards to see every superhero film that hits theaters (sometimes more than once), it's easy to see why every actor in Hollywood wants in on the craze.
And Ronda Rousey is no different, as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion recently revealed during her "ask me anything" session on Reddit, explaining why she would love to get in on the action by landing the role of "Ms. Marvel."
"Well... a lot of the good ones have been taken, but I'd like to vie for Miss Marvel," said "Rowdy," who could easily fit the bill on appearance alone (see pictures here).
So, who exactly is Ms. Marvel, also known as Captain Marvel? Venture Capitol Post has the lowdown for those of you who aren't knee deep in the comic book world.
Miss Marvel is the reincarnation of the comic book character Carol Danvers. She made her debut in the graphic novels in 1968's "Marvel Super-Heroes #13. According to Movie Webb, she used to be a United States Air Force security chief right before an explosion exposed her to Kree technology and turned her into Captain Marvel. She is known to have superhuman abilities that include strength and flight. Those were said to have surfaced after her DNA was infused with a Kree alien.
The film is tentatively scheduled to be released in 2018, which gives Rousey plenty of time to tighten up her acting skills if she wants to land her biggest role to date.
And she'll need to be on her "A" game, as plenty of heavy hitters have already been rumored as favorites to snag the role. Among them are two-time Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain, Golden Globe nominee Bryce Dallas Howard, and Golden Globe winner Emily Blunt.
Before she potentially goes toe-to-toe against those talented women in the audition room, "Rowdy" will film "Mile 22," an action film starring Mark Wahlberg.
