Old School collided against New School last night (Weds., July 15, 2015) in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 71, which took place at Valley View Casino in San Diego, Calif., airing live on FOX Sports 1.
And parental discretion was -- and should have been -- advised.
That's because Josh Thomson (Old School) got carved up by the vicious elbows of Tony Ferguson (New School) throughout their three-round Lightweight clash.
In fact, any other fighter besides "Punk" probably would have been finished, but the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA)-trained standout -- who has been finished via strikes just once in his 14-year mixed martial arts (MMA) career -- continued to battle back.
Unfortunately for him, Thomson was unable to really do any significant damage -- Ferguson was just too good, too dynamic, to be upset. The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 13 winner was simply too much to handle -- he looked like he probably could have competed for 10 rounds rather than just three.
"El Cucuy" is, indeed, a very bad man, who just so happens to now be on a six-fight win streak inside the Octagon.
Look out, Lightweights!
