Francisco Rivera came out with bad intentions during last night's (Sat., June 6, 2015) UFC Fight Night 68 event in New Orleans, Louisiana, as he knocked out Alex Caceres in just 21 seconds of the first round with a beautiful combination of strikes that left "Bruce Leeroy" seeing stars (results).
Unfortunately for Rivera, his performance came up short when it came time to hand out post-fight bonuses (see the winners here), as the event featured a bevy of impressive finishes.
But, perhaps a rematch against Uriah Faber could serve as a consolation prize for Rivera, who revealed during the post-fight press conference (replay) that he'd like to get a do-over against "The California Kid" after their initial meeting ending with him tapping for dear life at UFC 181 last December.
"Yeah, I would like to get that rematch. I felt like I was winning that fight against him, and it's unfortunate what happened. But if UFC makes it happen, lets do it."
Urijah's win wasn't without controversy, as Faber inadvertently poked River in the eye, which lead to a fight-ending submission.
After the fight, Rivera had to undergo go surgery to repair a cracked retina. Despite Rivera's pleas to have the win overturned, Faber's win was upheld and went on to challenge and eventually lose to Frankie Edgar at UFC Fight Night 65.
With both men free and clear at the moment, would you be interested in seeing a rematch between the two talented bantamweights?
