Lorenz Larkin and Santiago Ponzinibbio collided in the co-main event of last night's (Sat., June 27, 2015) UFC Fight Night 70 event inside Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., in a welterweight bout.
And boy was it a doozy (recap).
Ponzinibbio looked to get the action started early, as he pressured Larkin early and often to begin the scrap. Still, it was Lorenz who found his target, peppering the Arentenia with his kicks repeatedly.
In round two, it was much of the same as Larkin punished Santiago with powerful kicks mixed in with a diverse set of strikes that had his foe reeling. Still, Ponzinibbio proved to be game, as he accepted the punishment while trying to dish out some of his own.
Eventually, "Monsoon" unleashed a wild three-punch combination that dropped Ponzinibbio. Still, Sergio got back to his feet to stay in the fight, but not for long. Larkin continued to tag his foe until Herb Dean stepped in to put an end to the punishment.
While Larkin's win was impressive, so was Ponzi's heart and chin, which ultimately earned both men a "Fight of the Night" bonus.
